Art of Practicing final stroke

The Art of Practicing Institute is a non-profit organization that supports Madeline Bruser’s mission to educate musicians to practice with less struggle and to perform with ease, confidence, and communicative power.

Lake-Fountain-EdinboroU-Art-of-Practicing-Institute-SmallerOur annual weeklong summer program, Mindfulness, Confidence & Performance, held at Edinboro University, has attracted musicians from the US, Canada, Iceland, and Israel, who have experienced extraordinary results:

The institute is currently creating a detailed curriculum for teachers and performers who want to pursue training, certification, and membership in the Institute. Members and their students will have access to online workshops and discussion forums.

When I enrolled in The Art of Practicing Institute’s summer program, I hoped to expunge a paralyzing performance anxiety that had plagued me for over a decade. The experience was transformative: I performed a solo work on the final concert without the aid of beta blockers – something I had not done for over four years – and the outcome was deeply satisfying. I fell in love with my cello all over again, finally reclaiming the music for myself!”
